The	Myers-Briggs	type	indicator	orders	people	in	one	of	the	16	different	types	of	personalities	determining	which	side	of	four	types	("dichotomies")	fall.	Each	attribute	is	represented	by	a	letter,	so	someone	who	is	familiar	with	the	MMBTI	could	say	that	it	is	an	ISTJ,	and	their	colleague	is	an	ENFP.	The	four	pairs	are:	extraversion	(E)	—	introversion
(I)sensing	(S)	—	intuition	(N)penking	(T)	—	feeling	(F)	justice	(J)	—	perceiving	(P)	Every	category,	or	psychological	preference,	describes	how	a	person	prefers	to	interact	with	the	world,	and	does	not	always	correspond	to	the	common	definition	of	the	word.	We	discussed	extraversion	and	introversion	before,	in	relation	to	Jung's	psychological	type
theory.	Sensing	is	a	preference	for	information	and	empirical	data,	direct,	while	intuition	is	more	than	a	"big	image",	go-with-your-gut	preference.	Thinking	people	are	more	focused	on	logic	and	objectivity,	while	hearing	people	put	more	value	on	relationships	and	social	harmony.	Judgment	is	a	preference	for	programs	and	determination,	while
perceiving	is	a	preference	for	a	go-with-the-flow,	adaptable	attitude.	To	order	in	categories,	the	MMBTI	asks	a	number	of	questions,	like	"When	you	go	on	a	trip,	you	want	everything	planned	in	advance,	or	you	prefer	to	take	every	day	as	it	comes	and	do	what	you	feel	like?"	It	also	presents	pairs	of	words	(i.e.,	"schedules	—	freedom"	and	"compassion
  —	prediction"),	and	asks	test	carriers	to	choose	which	word	they	like	best.	Normally,	taking	the	official	MBTI	costs	about	$50,	and	taking	it	with	an	hour	of	feedback	from	a	professional	MBTI	will	give	you	back	$150.	A	career	report	makes	another	$16.95.	Participating	in	a	MBTI	class,	having	on-site	training	or	being	certified	in	MBTI	will	cost	about
$1,500	or	more,	depending	on	how	much	you	want	to	go	into	the	teachings	[source:	The	Myers	and	Briggscpp	lets	us	take	the	mbti	for	free,	and	mbti	certification	programs	lead	trainer	michael	segovia	has	crossed	ourSegovia	has	clarified	that	categories	simply	represent	preferences,	and	that	everyone	can	and	use	the	opposite	category	in	their	lives.
In	fact,	the	Myers	&	Briggs	Foundation	site	states	that	the	person	taking	the	test	is	the	expert,	and	the	only	one	who	really	knows	what	type	fits.	CPP	used	the	metaphor	of	the	handle	—	you	feel	more	comfortable	signing	your	name	with	the	dominant	hand,	but	technically	you	can	sign	with	the	undominant	hand	if	you	need.	In	fact,	Segovia	made	me
do	this	exercise,	signing	my	name	with	one	hand	and	then	the	other,	during	our	telephone	interview.	The	MMBTI	emphasizes	the	dynamics	between	different	types,	and	how	they	could	affect	happiness	or	performance	at	the	workplace.	People	may	also	consider	the	preferred	type	in	their	culture,	and	how	this	affects	their	interaction	with	the	world.
For	example,	the	U.S.	business	world	places	a	lot	of	value	on	being	a	J	(judging,	or	favoring	programs	and	accuracy,)	so	a	lot	of	American	professionals	with	a	natural	preference	for	P	(perceiving)	could	struggle	to	meet	the	needs	of	their	workplace.	But	preferences	are	not	tough	and	fast	rules.	"Myers-Briggs	evaluation	suggests	predisposition,	but	not
predetermination,"	said	Segovia	in	an	email.	"	Rather	than	lazyonholing,	it	allows	individuals	to	further	shape	their	future	through	an	understanding	of	their	own	preferences	and	those	of	others."	But	the	MBTI	has	a	lot	of	skeptics	and	detractors,	which	cite	several	well-documented	faults	of	the	evaluation.	The	ethics	of	personality	tests	The	Myers	&
Briggs	Foundation	and	CPP	follow	a	series	of	ethical	guidelines	for	MMBTI.	People	should	never	be	forced	to	take	the	MBTI,	types	should	be	recognized	as	preferences	and	not	absolute	and	no	type	should	be	praised	or	put	down	to	be	better	or	worse	than	others.	Thehave	also	ethical	guidelines	for	the	use	of	personality	tests,	especially	if	they	are
used	in	a	nonclinical	environment	—	questions	aboutGender	or	sexual	orientation	are	off	limits,	for	example,	and	it	would	be	illegal	if	used	at	the	workplace.	A	blind	color	test	checks	if	you	can	accurately	see	the	colors.	If	you	cannot	pass	the	test,	you	have	a	lack	of	color	vision	—	even	called	color	blindness.	Color	blind	tests	can	identify	children	who
may	have	problems	recognizing	colors.	This	could	be	a	factor	in	some	activities	at	school	and	at	home.	These	tests	can	also	identify	people	who	could	struggle	in	jobs	that	require	a	perfect	color	vision.	There	are	two	types	of	blind	color	test:	Screening	tests	that	can	detect	the	presence	of	a	color	vision	problem.	More	in-depth	tests	that	can	detect	a
color	vision	deficiency	and	measure	how	severe	it	is.	Color	screening	test	A	very	popular	color	blind	test	is	the	Ishihara	Color	Vision	Test.	Shinobu	Ishihara,	a	Japanese	ophthalmologist,	developed	the	test	more	than	100	years	ago.	It	can	quickly	detect	the	blindness	of	red-green	color	(the	most	common	color	vision	deficiency).	Eye	physicians	use
Ishihara	plates	for	patient	screen	for	color	vision	issues.	Someone	with	a	red-green	color	deficiency	may	not	see	the	red	number	in	this	example.	The	Farnsworth	Munsell	100	Hue	test	identifies	and	quantifies	color	vision	problems.	(Immagine:	Macular	Pigment	Research	Group,	Waterford	Technology	Institute)	The	Ishihara	test	consists	of	several
circular	images	(or	plates.)	Each	image	contains	many	points	of	various	colors,	brightness	and	sizes.	A	person	who	has	a	normal	color	view	will	be	able	to	detect	a	visible	number	hidden	within	the	set	of	points.	But	someone	with	red-green	blindness	will	not	be	able	to	see	the	number.	Instead,	they	will	see:	A	random	pattern	of	points,	or	a	different
number	than	the	one	seen	byperson	with	normal	color	vision.	The	complete	Ishihara	blind	test	contains	38	dishes.	A	shorter	version	of	the	test	(with	fewer	plates)	can	be	used	during	an	eye	exam	for	the	screen	for	color	blindness.	The	projection	takes	place	under	the	normal	lighting	of	the	room.	If	you'dneed	prescription	glasses,	you'll	wear	them	for
this	test.	If	you	fail	the	Ishihara	color	vision	test,	the	eye	doctor	will	tell	you	what	this	means	for	you.	In-depth	colour	tests	A	screening	test	can	be	able	to	detect	color	blindness,	but	a	more	detailed	test	is	required	to	measure	how	severe	the	condition	is.	The	most	popular	in-depth	test	is	the	Farnsworth-Munsell	100	Hue	Test.	The	Farnsworth	Munsell
100	Hue	test	identifies	and	quantifies	color	vision	problems.	(Immagine:	Macular	Pigment	Research	Group,	Waterford	Technology	Institute)	This	test	consists	of	four	trays	containing	many	small	discs	of	different	shades.	Each	tray	has	a	reference	disc	colored	at	one	end.	It	is	necessary	to	arrange	the	disks	in	each	tray	to	create	a	continuous	sequence
of	color	change.	This	test	should	take	place	under	ambient	lighting	that	simulates	natural	light.	Each	colored	disk	has	a	number	on	the	bottom	that	allows	the	tester	to	compare	the	results	against	a	key.	This	comparison	determines	the	type	and	severity	of	color	blindness.	A	shorter	version	of	the	Farnsworth-Munsell	100	Hue	Test	—	called	the	D15
Test	—	contains	15	coloured	discs.	Like	the	Ishihara	test,	the	D15	test	is	only	for	the	projection	of	color	blindness.	Online	color	blind	tests	Many	blind	color	tests	are	available	online.	Most	of	these	tests	are	versions	or	variations	of	the	Ishihara	screening	test.	Be	aware	that	these	online	versions	can	be	less	accurate,	depending	on	the	color	accuracy	of
the	display.	For	the	most	accurate	color	vision	test,	see	the	eye	doctor.	Who	should	do	a	black	blind	test?	Everyone	should	take	a	blind	test	of	color	at	least	once	in	their	lives,	especially	if	their	work	depends	on	it.	Excellent	color	perception	is	necessary	for	certain	positionsand	productive.	It	is	even	more	important	for	anyone	considering	a	profession
that	requires	a	perfect	color	vision.	Examples	include:	Commercial	Artist	Marketing	Professional	DesignerElectrician	Although	there	is	no	cure,	people	with	color	blindnessfull	and	rewarding	life.	especially	color	blind	glasses	dyed	can	help	some	people	see	colors	more	accurately.	page	published	in	January	2020	updated	page	in	April	2021	during	my
first	year	outside	college,	I	completed	a	communion	of	social	justice	that	was	practically	like	the	spiritual	real	world.	a	cross	between	the	organization	of	the	community	based	on	social	justice	and	life	in	intentional	communities,	there	was	a	lot	of	sharing.	we	spent	a	lot	of	time	in	conversation	between	us,	and	we	went	to	great	lengths	to	try	to	get	to
know	each	other	as	individuals	and	understand	where	we	were	coming	from.	and	if	the	experience	taught	me	something,	it	is	that	people	are	nuanced,	and	it	is	almost	impossible	to	enter	into	a	single	type	of	“personality”.	While	tools	such	as	Myers-Briggs	test	do	a	decent	job	to	help	break	patterns	in	people,	these	types	of	personality	tests	often	lack	a
ton	of	dusty	and	deeper	insights	that	make	up	who	we	are	like	people.	If	you	really	want	to	know	someone,	and	because	they	do	the	things	they	do,	this	is	the	personality	test	you	should	hate.	is	called	L’Enneagramma,	but	the	word	“test”	really	does	not	do	it	justice.	It	is	better	to	think	about	the	umagram	as	more	than	one	chart,	or	a	visual	path	to
understand	why	we	do	the	things	we	do.	one	of	the	most	fascinating	things	of	the	enneagram	is	what	varies	from	person	to	person.	Two	people	with	the	same	type	of	Myers-Briggs	can	have	very	different	enneagrams,	and	the	wings	of	our	enneagram	offer	an	even	deeper	view	below	that.	the	enneagram	consists	of	nine	core	types,	with	other	elements
and	deviations	built	to	explain	the	nuances	of	our	personality.	While	this	overview	from	the	enneagram	institute	is	very	high	level,	it	gives	you	a	sense	for	each	of	the	nine	types	at	their	most	fundamental	level.	type	one	is	of	principle,	targeted,	self-controlled,perfectionist.	Guy	two	is	generous,	demonstrative,	full	of	people	and	possessive.	Type
Threeexcelling,	guided	and	aware	of	the	image.	Type	Four	is	expressive,	dramatic,	self-absorbed	and	temperament.	Type	Five	is	perceptive,	innovative,	secretive	and	isolated.	Guy	Six	is	addictive,	responsible,	anxious	and	suspicious.	The	Seven	type	is	spontaneous,	versatile,	acquiring	and	scattering.	Type	Otto	is	self-confident,	decisive,	willing	and
controversial.	The	Nove	type	is	receptive,	reassuring,	pleasing	and	resigned.	If	you	find	yourself	saying	something	like	"big	deal."	I	could	respond	yes	to	all	of	them,"	acknowledge	that	this	is	a	little	bit	the	point!	It	is	normal	to	see	each	other	in	different	types	(they	are	a	4/7	split)	and	Enneagram	is	also	designed	to	meet	these	different	facets	of	our
personalities.	Are	you	interested	in	knowing	yourself	or	someone	around	you	at	a	deeper	level?	Here	are	seven	reasons	why	you	should	throw	out	that	personality	test	and	spend	some	time	studying	the	Enneagram	instead.	1.	It	is	more	representative	than	Myers-BriggsUnlike	personality	typing	systems	that	throw	individuals	into	a	definitive	type,
Enneagram	represents	the	nuances	of	the	total	person	including	"ali".	Since	no	person	could	adapt	to	a	certain	"type"	to	a	tee,	the	Enneagram	type	also	identifies	the	adjacent	type	that	most	aligns.	The	wings	represent	less	central	parts	of	your	personality,	contextualize	your	main	type,	and	add	more	specificity	to	certain	situations.	Aka,	they	are
hyperspecific,	and	totally	useful.	2.	It	concentrates	less	on	habits,	and	more	on	the	motivation	As	Ennea-expert	Ian	Cron	explains,	the	Enneagram	goes	beyond	the	superficial	traits.	Unlike	personality	typing	systems,	Enneagram	bypasses	the	mere	personality	traits	and	looks	at	the	total	person	as	a	full	chart.	In	addition,	it	will	dismiss	the	motivations
that	guide	our	traits	and	habits,	and	how	we	end	there.	Most	of	whatin	the	enneagram	is	an	explanation	of	what	causes	our	thoughts,	feelings	and	behaviors,	which	is	super	useful	when	trying	to	understand	theWe're	gonna	make	it.	3.	Help	other	people	understand	better,	TooAnd	on	that	note,	these	insights	are	not	only	useful	to	understand	ourselves
  —	they	are	great	for	understanding	other	people,	too.	The	Enneagram	takes	decisions	models	and	binds	them	to	reason	and	logic,	which	helps	to	paint	a	more	complete	picture	of	why	we	do	things	we	do.	In	addition,	he	armed	us	with	some	dialogue	to	explain	or	understand	behavioral	choices	in	difficult	situations.	This	makes	Enneagram	particularly
useful	in	relationships.	4.	Describe	how	you	want	to	act	better	and	worse	Thanks	to	its	inclusion	of	a	“Integration”	and	“Disintegration”	point,	the	Enneagram	is	able	to	help	you	identify	and	work	with	models	that	tend	to	get	out	when	you	are	at	best	and	worse.	These	elements	show	how	you	deal	with	stress,	and	highlights	trends	that	you	start
embodying	when	you	really	feel	enhanced.	5.	Helps	you	build	better	relationships	Enneagram	is	a	particularly	useful	tool	for	relationships.	It	is	especially	useful	in	browsing	romantic	relationships	(mostly	the	same	way	that	the	Love	Language	system	is)	in	this	we	talk	to	motivations	and	fears	that	guide	our	understanding	and	application	of	instinct,
intimacy,	sharing,	and	the	like.	If	you	can	spend	some	time	studying	your	Enneagram	partner,	you	will	have	a	better	chance	to	meet	them	in	the	middle	on	big	decisions,	compromises	and	disagreements.	6.	Makes	you	a	better	employee	In	that	same	vein,	Enneagram	is	also	a	powerful	tool	for	professional	teams.	Understanding	someone’s	Enneagram
can	provide	a	valuable	context	for	why	they	have	supported	for	certain	ideas,	because	they	say	“no”	to	others,	and	how	they	have	also	introduced	themselves	to	the	idea	first.	It	gives	an	idea	about	how	people	love	to	drive	and	be	led,	what	someone	might	actually	try	to	communicate	in	thatvague	(Enneagram	is	not	a	crystal	ball,	but	it	is	useful	in
subdividing	the	subtext	and	meaning).7.	meaning).7.Si	HealthierTaking	time	to	study	your	Enneagram	can	also	be	a	game-changer	for	mental	health	management.	Have	you	ever	wondered	why	it's	so	hard	for	you	to	stay	in	a	place?	I	don't	know	why	you'd	rather	listen	than	talk?	The	idea	of	going	to	the	business	party	makes	you	completely	anxious?	I
wish	you	could	finally	put	an	end	to	your	people	who	please?	Do	you	need	help	to	disappear	all	that	resentment	and	fear	you	brought	around?	The	Enneagram	offers	so	much	information	about	the	difficult	and	less	known	parts	of	ourselves	that	are	particularly	difficult	to	navigate.	When	you	look	through	the	Enneagram	lens,	things	like	anxiety	and
fear	begin	to	feel	more	manageable,	and	therefore,	much	less	overwhelming.	Continue	with	the	latest	daily	news	with	the	BuzzFeed	Daily	newsletter!	Beautiful	house	1.
