  My	elective	is	Political	Science.	Like	many	of	you,	I	started	my	training	by	moving	to	Delhi.	On	my	first	attempt,	I	wasn’t	able	to	do	well	in	the	Mains.	For	GS,	this	time	I	joined	ForumIAS	MGP	and	essay	classes,	after	my	roommate	who	was	a	student	of	the	CGP	program	recommended	him	to	me.	I	was	at	the	ForumIAS	Center	a	few	days	ago	where	I
  was	asked	to	share	my	political	science	strategy	by	some	aspirants	who	were	planning	to	write	CSE	2019	and	CSE	2020.	I’m	sharing	what	worked	for	me,	but	it	may	or	may	not	work	for	you,	so	please	adopt	the	strategy	accordingly.	In	my	first	attempt,	I	missed	the	network	cut	mainly	because	of	PSIR	(Pol	Science	and	International	Relations),	having
  received	211	marks	which	was	an	extremely	poor	score.	I	will	talk	about	what	I	prepared	on	my	first	attempt	and	the	mistakes	I	made.	My	first	attempt	In	my	first	attempt,	I	had	attended	the	classes	of	Shubhra	Ranjan	mam.	I	found	them	quite	informative	and	to	the	point	as	for	the	UPSC	program.	In	addition,	these	classes	helped	me	form	informed
  perspectives	on	many	issues	that	are	happening	at	that	time,	helping	me	develop	a	general	attitude	for	preparation.	Although	I	felt	that	the	general	organization	of	classes	in	terms	of	timely	completion	of	the	program	could	be	improved.	Many	topics	were	left	out	and	their	performances	were	given.	However,	the	classes	were	a	general	inch	up.	After
  classes	dropped,	I	went	home	and	entered	the	PSIR	test	series	with	sectional	tests.	The	tests	have	also	helped	me	a	lot	since	I	was	able	to	complete	the	syllabus	of	first	3	sections	on	time	and	also	the	regular	answer	writing	practice.	The	last	section	was	left	due	to	preliminary	preparation.	These	tests	also	helped	me	maintain	a	rigorous	time	table	for
  general	studies.	Although	I	heard	that	copy	control	quality	could	improve,	however,	the	test	series	was	very	useful	overall.	However,	it	was	afterThat	I	made	a	series	of	mistakes,	which	led	to	such	a	poor	score,	despite	a	good	headstart.	I	will	briefly	discuss	these	errors.	The	errors	I	made	in	the	first	Sentent	Sense	of	Compliance	and	excess	of
  confidence:	Â	Due	to	the	good	initial	preparation,	I	came	under	the	impression	that	my	PSIR	preparation	is	very	robust	and	until	the	time	of	the	brand.	At	optional:	not	having	made	any	coaching	or	no	regular	response	that	writes	in	GS,	I	was	more	concerned	about	this	and	so	gave	more	time	to	it.	I	have	observed	that	the	marks	remain	proportional	to

  Practice	of	answer	writing:	Â	I	never	answered	daily	or	solved	the	questions	of	the	previous	year.	All	I	wrote	was	answers	in	the	tests	and	never	compared	them	with	good	answers	from	the	toppers	of	that	test.	I've	never	seen	the	response	brochures	of	the	previous	year	Toppers.Poor	Revisions:	â	I	was	confident	that	the	concepts	are	geared	in	my
  mind	and	therefore	was	not	annoyed	for	last-minute	revisions.	I	never	even	had	the	breath	that	people	were	reviewing	the	whole	program	the	day	before	the	real	exam,	which	I	spent	relaxing.	The	things	I	learned	from	that	interfattit	was	not	so	surprised	that	I	had	done	badly	as	in	reality.	In	paper	from	1	because	of	a	great	teaching	of	MAM	",	I

  make	crispy	notes	with	mom's	notes	or	any	other	source	I	was	following	in	my	first	attempt.	However,	this	was	something	that	most	people	I	talked	to	were	doing	with.	While	I	started	making	short	notes	in	the	previous	toppers	steps,	there	were	various	benefits	of	the	same	I	observed.	First,	short	notes	help	you	in	quick	revisions	several	times.	This
  ensures	that	you	root	the	concepts	and	store	them	to	reproduce	them	at	your	liking.	Second,	it	helps	in	the	last	minute	review	of	the	vast	program.	Thirdly,	reading	sharp	information	several	times	ensures	that	you	can	make	interconnected	concepts	that	is	the	essentiality	of	this	UPSC.	I'll	touch	the	interconnections	now.	I	was	very	eager	to	make
  short	notes.	Fortunately,	some	short	basic	notes	of	Tushar	Gupta	Sir	(CSE-2017	AIR-113)	were	available	online	(	p&n=8e6a834d-d04e-4f04-a726-4b78e4075366).	I	took	these	notes	as	a	basic	picture	and	built	my	notes	on	them.	In	addition,	these	notes	contained	some	excellent	information	provided	in	the	Paper-2,	which	helped	me	provide	new	forage
  materials	and	improve	my	concepts. Focus	on	names	of	scholars	and	books:	Â	This	is	very	important	for	optional	PSIR,	since	citing	the	names	of	scholars	and	their	books	gives	an	academic	touch	to	your	response	and	impresses	the
  examiner.	In	my	first	attempt	I	ignored	this	aspect,	but	in	the	second	I	put	a	particular	emphasis	on	this	point.	I	had	made	separate	A4	notes	for	this	to	make	sure	to	see	them	again	and	learn	them	by	heart.	I	also	took	particular	care	to	learn	the	various	quotes	given	in	the	notes	of	the	mom	as	well	as	look	for	some	of	them	online	for	each	subject.
  Starting	your	answer	with	a	quote	or	ending	with	it	gives	a	special	touch	to	your	answers.
