The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in General Studies is an ideal fit for those students who are looking to explore a wide array of academic subjects. It allows students to delve into a number of different fields to develop a better understanding of their potential future career. WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH A GENERAL STUDIES DEGREE? • Public Relations Director • Brand Manager • Technical Writer • Customer Service Representative • General Manager • Administrative or Executive Assistant • Non-profit Program Manager GENERAL STUDIES CURRICULUM GENERAL STUDIES Incoming freshmen cannot choose General Studies as a major unless they have Freshmen and sophomore studies 60hrs met the requirements for non-traditional student status. The General Studies Upper Division Studies 18hrs program is designed for non-traditional students with diverse interests. Specialized Content 42hrs Pertinent courses are offered across the curriculum in the Department of Education and Psychology at Alcorn State University. The chosen Total Hours 120 concentration areas are intended to align with students’ educational development and career goals. The program provides non-traditional students with opportunities for continuing their education in a manner that is FRESHMEN AND SOPHOMORE COURSES ARE DISTRIBUTED AS FOLLOWS consistent with the university concept. English Composition 6 WHAT DETERMINES A NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENT AT ALCORN STATE Creative Arts 9 UNIVERSITY? Any student who is at least 21 years of age upon initial enrollment meets the Oral Communication 3 requirement for Non-traditional status. Students who are admitted to the Social and Behavioral Science 12 University based on GED, work experience, or professional experience may also be classified as Non-traditional students. Natural Science and Mathematics 12 Non-traditional students may enroll in or be admitted to the General Studies Health 3 program at any point during matriculation. Orientation 1 WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION? PE, MU or MS 2 1. Meet regular admission requirements for Alcorn State University Electives 12 2.
