In	the	last	two	years	I	designed	four	collections	of	clothes	¢	(Time	flies!).	Every	time	I	shared	a	collection	here	we	received	tons	of	requests	for	a	post	on	fashion	sketches.	I'm	self-taught	(and	still	learning!),	But	I	thought	it	would	be	fun	to	share	some	of	my	process.	I	hope	some	of	you	feel	inspired	by	pulling	out	your	pens	and	pencils	and	notebooks
today.	The	sketch	of	fashion	is	almost	intimidated	while	I	thought	it	would	be.	1.	Create	a	good	croquis.	A	croquis	is	the	basic	design	of	a	model	laying	that	you	can	track	down	again	and	again	while	drawing	your	fashion	ideas.	You	can	find	Croquis	to	use	online	or	books	or	you	can	create	your	own.	I	created	my	first	croquis	years	ago	by	tracing	a	pose
on	a	vintage	model.	Typically,	the	croquis	are	forms	of	exaggerated	high	model.	But	what	happens	if	you	want	to	design	for	someone	else,	of	'a	child	or	a	more	cut	woman?	Make	yours!	Here's	how	I	do	it?	|	Print	a	photo	that	has	a	good	pose	and	body	shape	you	want	to	design.	I	chose	a	couple's	photo	with	my	husband	because	sometimes	I	like	to
design	Ã	¢	â,¬	"and	its	appearance.	2.	Using	the	window	light,	track	the	shape	of	the	base	body	on	a	new	piece	of	paper.	3	.	Use	your	new	croques,	tracing	it	with	a	fresh	sheet	of	paper,	to	sketch	your	new	designs	plus	and	more	times.	Fun,	right?!	2.	Not	stressful,	only	practice.	Instead	of	emphasizing	to	get	perfect	sketches,	start	only	Where	are	you
and	practice.	Before	sharing	some	of	my	sketches	(even	with	my	friends)	I	was	drawing	for	a	whole	year	in	secret	notebooks.	Every	time	a	notebook	was	full,	I	would	reap	my	favorite	designs	and	I	would	have	started	a	new	one,	launching	the	Rest.	Nothing	can	replace	the	quality	practice	time.	It	is	the	only	way	to	grow	and	develop.	Get	trust	while
you	go!	3.	Focus	on	the	development	of	a	style	of	yours.	There	are	many	things	that	determine	the	unique	style	of	yours	illustrations.	Want	Use	watercolors,	markers	or	colored	pencils?	How	will	you	explain	the	faces	on	your	models?	How	much	styling	will	you	include?	All	these	small	details	will	work	together	to	create	a	look	that	yours	is	distinctly!
Concentrate	on	the	creation	of	sketches	that	express	your	unique	aesthetics	with	each	element.resources,	I	recommend:	When	I	started	to	learn	to	draw,	my	PAL	Mallory	allowed	me	to	borrow	figure	design	for	fashion	design.	It	was	super	useful	for	learning	the	basics.	I	highly	recommend	the	fashion	sketchpad	(in	the	picture	above).	It	is	a	notebook
with	420	models	of	figures	to	sketch.	I'm	using	it	for	a	few	years	and	I	absolutely	love	it	for	the	quick	sketch	and	the	trip!	Thank	you	very	much	for	reading.	If	you	love	to	draw	fashion	ideas,	feel	free	to	leave	your	advice	and	resources	in	the	comments!	XO.	Elsie	by	Alex	Snyder	on	May	4,	2016	in	clothing,	design	for	daily	suggestions	and	intuitions
directly	to	your	mailbox,	subscribe	to	our	blog	newsletter.	For	years,	as	a	designer,	I	always	kept	with	me	sketchbook	with	me.	They	traveled	with	me	and	have	become	my	diaries.	It	is	important	that	any	designer	maintains	one.	Not	only	does	your	process	documents,	it	is	infinitely	stimulating.	My	sketchbooks	date	back	to	my	first	design	job	as	a
stylist.	I	have	become	an	anthology	to	my	career.	Sketchbooks,	for	a	designer,	must	continuously	develop	and	push	design.	In	this	way,	you	will	find	areas	of	opportunities	for	fully	realized	projects	and	collections.	Currently,	being	the	creative	director	of	four	sales	lines,	sketchbooks	help	my	team	and	I	to	maintain	the	personality	of	each	vibrating	and
individualized	line.	It	is	always	the	same	process	for	each	collection.	Map,	find	inspiration	and	start	collecting	items	to	help	yours	To	become	a	reality.	Ã	¢	â,¬	"process:	Ã	¢	â,¬"	is	my	most	current	sketchbook,	which	documents	the	development	of	our	2015	spring	/	summer	and	autumn	/	winter	collections.	After	years	of	support,	appreciation	and
artistic	direction,	the	My	team	and	I	decided	to	finally	publish	one.	This	is	The	epitome	of	the	design	and	development	process	for	a	fashion	designer.	In	all	the	book	youÃ	¢	ll	find	my	personal	process.	My	trip	always	starts	with	a	living	story	that	I	have	in	mind.	I	like	a	good	story;	One	of	my	favorites	being	a	1950	housewife	who	traveled	the	world	and
took	an	interest	in	the	dress	of	indigenous	tribes.	Another	story	I	loved	was	of	witches	during	colonialism.	These	are	all	the	stories	that	bounce	my	great	inspirations,	which	are	1940	/	'50	and	Art	Deco.	So	how	do	all	this	come	together?	Here	is	a	doctor	in	process.	Related	Reading:	It's,	here's	how	new	robotics	are	working	for	a	bit	of	my	process:	I
start	with	a	brief	design,	which	assists	my	team	and	me	to	maintain	a	unitary	vision.	Then	I	start	Mind	mapping	to	help	all	aspects	of	history	come	to	life.	(Example:	when	you	think	of	a	witch,	you	might	think	of	smoke,	twine	and	black	get	that	on	your	mind	program	you	could	see	textiles	design,	structure	and	fabrics	like	the	skin	this	is	to	help	develop
the	images	further	..	in	your	head.)	Then,	get	to	sketches	and	literally	pull	out	any	idea	I	have	on	your	mind.	I	want	to	make	sure	that	I	receive	every	thumb	of	my	mind	on	that	card.	I	stop	there	and	start	isolating	my	favorite	pieces	and	I	begin	to	collage	my	inspiration	images	that	I	find	in	the	library	(I	love	bookstores)	and	start	tracing	forms	that	I
really	like.	I	use	that	same	piece	of	polished	paper	to	further	develop	my	designs.	Sometimes	I'll	take	fabric	for	shape	and	see	what	I	can	create	there.	Ia	ll	photograph	it	and	post	that	in	my	book.	Then	I	go	back	and	forth	between	#	3	and	#	4	heavily.	Finally	comes	a	point	where	to	start	isolate	your	collection.	I	find	my	top	10-15	designs	and	isolate
those	and	start	to	make	them	talk	to	each	other.	You	always	want	to	make	all	the	pieces	speak	to	your	customer	and	they	can	all	go	to	the	same	party	together.	Once	I'm	happy	(which	takes	a	while)	I	start	adding	season	fabrics	for	each	design.	This	process	is	great	and	worked	for	me	my	whole	career.	It	is	essential	to	find	a	path	that	best	suits	your
creativity.	I	am	very	analytical,	and	my	splashes	are	freeing	for	me,	but	I	stop	to	analyze	in	points.	Related	reading:	Ã,	how	to	effectively	communicate	your	designsduring	the	sketch	process,	my	team	is	design	by	developing	collection,	taking	the	flagship	and	making	them	more	accessible.	It	is	very	similar	to	what	you	see	on	the	track	and	what	you
see	in	stores.	Here	is	where	magic	takes	place.	We	want	this	book	to	be	an	CollectorÃ	¢	s	element;	One	who	inspires	all	the	artists	in	the	same	way.	This	is	an	intimate	vision	in	my	process	and	me	as	a	designer.	Not	only	are	we	publishing	the	book,	we	are	also	working	on	creating	an	incredible	interactive	e-book,	which	will	be	behind	the	scenes
during	fittings	and	production.	Help	us	bring	this	book	for	life!	We	have	some	incentives	really	murderous	on	our	kickstarter.	Every	help	bit	is	extremely	appreciated.
