Course Outcomes After successfully completing this course, the students will be able to: 1. Understand basic specific terminology of estimating construction costs of building and civil engineering projects. (a) 2. Participate and work in group assignments in different areas of estimating including labor, equipment, materials and money. (d, e, g) 3. Estimate and analyze labor hours and productivity, labor burden and pricing, owning and operating costs of equipment, excavation of new sites and rough grades. (a, e) 4. Estimate concrete works, masonry work, and tiles. (a, e) 5. Understand estimation and costs in relation to professional and ethical responsibility in construction. (a, f) 6. Use tools and techniques for estimating general and special excavation, concrete and reinforcing, electrical works, plumbing work, and HVAC work. (a, e, k) 7. Prepare written reports related to a construction project by using estimation techniques and give oral presentations.
