MISCONCEPTION You may think that an online search to collect many sources is sufficient evidence of research. Doing a series of online searches is not research. You must understand what you have read and reflect on its use in helping you make choices along your inquiry journey. AN ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY IS A TOOL • Help students evaluate and reflect on sources they found according to their topic. • It is NOT part of the ACADEMIC PAPER Provides the reader with an ordered list of sources for additional reading. Provides brief explanations of PURPO why each source is credible and relevant to the topic. SE See Owl Purdue for samples of MLA, APA, Chicago & AMA Style Annota tions Sources are separated from each other and arranged in alphabetical order so they will be easy to locate. STRUCTUR Each item in the list uses the E & formal citation style (usually APA, MLA, or Chicago) to cite a COMPONE single source and includes a short paragraph with a summary NTS explaining its credibility. and relevancy. AN ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY ALLOWS THE READER TO CHOOSE WHETHER TO EXPLORE THE AVAILABLE SOURCES OR NOT ON THEIR OWN.
