      Learning Outcomes
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
Explain the concept of connecting devices
        Explain different types of networks
        Describe WiFi and the Internet
        Describe Bluetooth and file sharing

       Connecting Network devices
       
        Organizations implement computer
        networks so that they:
       1. Communicate via email, video
          conferencing, instant messaging, etc.
       2. Allow multiple users to share a single
hardware device like a printer or scanner
       3. Enable file sharing across the network
       4. Allow for the sharing of software or
          operating programs on remote systems
eg a common database or ERP
       5. Make information easier to access and

        Connecting Network devices
        
Connecting technology is determined by the size and
structure of the network. There are many types of
networks based on size as follows:
          
Local Area Networks (LAN) -- this is a network within a room,
a floor or a building. It uses the Ethernet cable or WiFi
          
Personal Area Networks (PAN) – this is a very small network
which could be a laptop tethering to a phone and using
           Bluetooth to print.
          
Home Area Networks (HAN) – this is a network in a house
comprising a few computers and possibly a modem for
internet connectivity. It uses Ethernet, WiFi and Bluetooth.
          
Wide Area Networks (WAN) – a computer network spanning
several kilometers. It uses public infrastructure like
telephone cables, fiber backbone, microwave and radio links.

        Connecting Network devices
        
In order for all the devices to communicate
         effectively, the use communication protocols.
        
Network protocols define a language of
         instructions and conventions for communication
         between the network devices.
        
A communication protocol is a system of rules
that allow two or more entities of a
         communications system to transmit information
via any kind of variation of a physical quantity.
        
         Common communication protocols include:
         Transmission Control Protocol (TCT), Internet
Protocol (IP), Wi-Fi protocol base on IEEE 802.11,
