Aluminum tripods are heavier than carbon-fiber models, but are less-expensive, and they tolerate abuse with less hazard than carbon-fiber.  But lightweight carbon fiber is the choice of professionals who carry their gear throughout the workday, and know to be careful with it.  Carbon fiber leg tubes are stiffer than aluminum leg tubes of the same cross-section – which is as desirable a trait as its lighter weight.  Those two traits are why professionals typically go for carbon fiber.

The standard-duty 75mm aluminum tripod is only 1 lbs. heavier than its carbon fiber counterpart, but the system cost of AGILE 5, 5S, 6, & 6S-based systems with the 2-stage aluminum tripod is $200 less than with its carbon fiber counterpart.  ‘Not much of difference in weight or performance.  ‘More a PERCEPTION of quality is the deciding factor.  I never know which type a customer will end up selecting.

AGILE 8 & 8S, there’s a 75mm heavy-duty aluminum tripod and a carbon fiber counterpart.  Aluminum for studio or stationary applications; carbon fiber for mobile field applications.

For AGILE 10 & 10S through AGILE 15 & 15S, there is a standard-duty 100mm aluminum tripod that is intended for Studio or other stationary applications. The carbon fiber counterpart is  intended for mobile field applications.

For AGILE 18 & 18S through AGILE 20 & 20S, there are 1-stage and 2-stage 100mm heavy-duty aluminum tripods that are intended for Studio or stationary applications.  The two carbon-fiber counterparts are intended for mobile field applications.
