Thesis. English Letter Department: Letters and Humanities Faculty, State Islamic University Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, April 2011. This research is aimed to find how the structural narrative which is in Karma and Other Stories book, short stories collection, that written by Rishi Reddi, Indian immigrant, tell about the various conflicts which occur among Indian immigrant communities. The writer only takes three short stories, The Validity of Love, Bangles, and Devadasi. These stories have the same theme that is the intergenerational conflict, thus the writer wants to know whether each structure from the stories is the same or not. The research conducted in purpose to examine, understand, and describe actantial and functional structure in the three stories and the relation in each story. This research uses the descriptive qualitative method and the theory used is structural narratology theory by A. J. Greimas. The result of the research gathered shows that the several parts from the story of The Validity of Love and Devadasi, have similarity of narrative structure, but the story of Bangles does not have similar narrative structure with the previous stories. However, from the differences between those short stories, there is intergenerational conflict on the first and second generation because of their different mindset from each other. i
