Doxazo Camp Camper FAQ’s What is Doxazo Camp? Doxazo Camp is a one week experience designed to bring each camper closer to Jesus and give them a summer camp experience in a fun, safe, and healthy way. At each Doxazo Camp, campers will be placed in a small group of same gender peers with one – two counsellors over them. Their small group is a part of one of our four camp tribes. Campers will complete activities, participate in small groups, and eat lunch and a snack with their small group and/or tribe. All campers will come together for a Biblical lesson on the Camp’s theme and closing counsel at the end of day. Who can participate in Doxazo Camp? Doxazo Camp is open to anyone entering first grade through eighth grade. We currently divide Camp into middle school (incoming fifth through eighth graders) and elementary school (incoming first through fourth grades) as well as boys and girls. What are the dates and times of Camp? Camp is: th th July 16 – 19 (Middle School Camp Week One) rd th July 23 – 26 (Middle School Camp Week Two) nd July 30 – August 2 (Elementary Camp) All camps are Tuesday through Friday from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm. Lunch and a snack are served each day by a dedicated food team. Where is Doxazo Camp? Doxazo Camp is hosted at Heritage Christian School (2000 NW Clay St). Both boys and girls will be hosted here. Is Doxazo Camp outside? Yes, portions of Doxazo Camp will be outside. Since it is the summer, our staff is intentional about making sure that campers spends no more than an hour outside at a time. Campers are welcome to take breaks as needed and are encouraged by staff to drink lots of water during the day. If you anticipate your camper needing accommodations, please email Abbie Stuart at astuart@doxazotopeka.com or call her at 785-806-8811 to discuss further details. Is there a lot of physical activity at Camp? The amount of physical activity largely comes down to director in charge of activities that year, although historically, Camp has been mostly active. However, staff strives to provide a good balance of active and less active games each week and highly encourages campers to come to Camp with a flexible attitude that is ready to try new things – whether that’s an athletic game or a skit competition – to have the most fun possible! If you anticipate your camper needing accommodations, please email Abbie Stuart at astuart@doxazotopeka.com or call her at 785-806-8811 to discuss further details. I have dietary restrictions. Will there be food provided for me? We do our best to accommodate as many dietary restrictions as possible and are usually able to accommodate most allergies. In general, we can accommodate gluten, dairy, soy, egg, and/or nut free allergies. While we do our best, we do not guarantee cross-contamination will not occur. If cross- contamination is an issue for you, please plan on providing your own food for Camp or reach out to Abbie Stuart at astuart@doxazotopeka.com or 785- 806-8811 to further discuss your concerns. Please note all food allergies on your registration form. What if I need to leave during Camp? If you know in advance your camper will need to leave Camp during the day, please note that on your registration form. Please make sure the person picking the child up is listed as an authorized person on the child’s app and check-out with a Doxazo staff member or Doxazo Camp intern when the child is picked up. Campers may return to Camp after their commitment if they’d like. If something comes up during Camp and you need to pick up your child, please call Doxazo at 785-806-8811 to let a staff member know you are on your way. If a person who was not listed on the child’s registration form is picking them up, then you must give verbal permission for your child to be picked up and checked out by them. Again, campers may return to Camp after their commitment if they’d like. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for campers who are unable to complete a week of Camp once it has started. Exceptions are made on a case by case basis. How much does Doxazo Camp cost? One week of Doxazo Camp costs $100 a camper. If this is a burden for you, please fill out the scholarship request form on our website. What do I need to bring to Camp? We highly recommend bringing a reusable water bottle and sunscreen to Camp. We also highly recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes that allow you to move about freely. How does drop-off and pick-up work? Drop off is from 8:30 – 8:50 am each day of Camp. Drivers are asked toward Heritage Christian School from off Taylor Street and go south on 6th Street. The school will be on your right. Please drive to the front entrance of the school and pull into one of three available drop-off slots. If no slots are available, please wait until one becomes available. A staff member will check your child in and give you their security code for pick up. Please do not lose this code as you will turn it in at pick-up. After your child has been checked in, you may leave. Pick up is from 3:25 – 3:50 pm each day of Camp. Drivers are asked toward Heritage Christian School from off Taylor Street and go south on 6th Street, park in any of the available parking lots, and come into the school to pick up their child(ren). A staff member will be at the front to verify you are on the child(ren)’s registration form. Once you are verified, you can finish checking your child out and go home. Please note that children will not be released to persons who are not on their registration form. Please reach out to Abbie Stuart at astuart@doxazotopeka.com or 786-806-8811 if you need to add someone to the list before Camp starts. Of course, things happen and plans may change during the day. If someone who is not on the child(ren)’s registration form needs to pick up the child, please call 785-806-8811 and let us know. If possible, give that person the security code to validate themselves to the staff member when it’s time for pick up. If someone comes to pick up the child(ren) who is not on the registration form and Doxazo Ministries has not been notified of a change, a staff member will call the parent listed on the form for confirmation before releasing the child(ren). If you arrive after 8:50 am or 3:50 pm for drop off or pick up, please park and walk your child(ren) into the school. Please check in with the Camp Nurse, located in the office to the right of the main entrance, and she will make sure that your child(ren) gets to the right location. For the final closing counsel on Fridays, you may check your child(ren) out either before or after the ceremony. Once your child(ren) is checked out, they are your responsibility. Chiefs/Chieftess can check themselves out after programming in the evenings. Can I do more than one week of Camp? Since we would like for as many campers as possible to experience the fun of Camp, we do not currently allow campers to attend more than one week of Camp. My child wants to be with their friend. Is that allowed? As much as we can accommodate it, yes! There may be instances were a child cannot be placed with their friend, but if you note that they would like to be with a friend on their registration form, we will do our best to accommodate that. Please note that it is very difficult to accommodate requests to be placed with more than one or two friends. My child is going into 5th grade, but we will be gone both weeks of middle school Camp. Can they attend elementary Camp with their sibling? We do allow this on a case by case basis. Please reach out to Abbie Stuart at astuart@doxazotopeka.com to discuss further if this is a good fit for your child. Currently, we do not allow elementary students to attend either week of middle school Camp and we only consider requests for incoming 5th graders to attend elementary Camp. My children are attending the same week of Camp. Can they be put in different or the same small group? Absolutely! Just let Abbie Stuart know at astuart@doxazotopeka.com or 785- 806-8811. Where do I sign up and who do I contact if I have questions? You can register online at www.doxazotopeka.com/camp from now until July st 1 . Please reach out to Abbie Stuart at doxazo@doxazotopeka.com or 785- 806-8811 with any questions you may have!
