Python Mind Reader Topic Logic and Coding Learning objectives Success criteria Students will… - Watching and understanding • Learn to write their first computer program in Python the video in its entirety. • Learn about conditional logic within programming - Participating in the group • Shows them that they are capable of following STEM subjects discussion/activity. • Resources Suggested use of teaching time - Video Video – 25 minutes - Python Mind Reader Links (this contains the URLs needed to Cyber Activity – 25 Minutes take part in the activity) - Decision tree printout Learning activity The video will introduce the programming language Python. The students will learn to make a logical guessing game, where the computer will “magically” guess what fruit they are. The students will learn to input and output information using Python, as well as the logic of conditionals within programming. The teacher can pause the video throughout the session to allow students to complete each activity as required. Please ignore any reference to messages in the chat window, as this was a live session that we are re-using on-demand. All links are contained in the ‘Links’ document. Evaluation and next steps Follow up discussions – Students will be given the opportunity to continue to learn python by following our free online course available on YouTube. This gives them the fundamental knowledge of programming and problem solving, in a fun and engaging manner.
