The scope of ecological restoration ranges from alpine meadows to saltwater estuaries, and the techniques are as diverse as the many ecosystems to which they are applied. This guide provides an introduction to ecological restoration for individuals, companies, students, non-profit groups, and government agencies involved in or contemplating restoration projects. It emphasizes the underlying concepts common to all restorations—the ecological concepts of succession, disturbance, and historical range of variability. Citation— Gayton, D.V. 2001.
