Sheet 1: The Least You Need To Know
The Least You Need to Know |
Direct Card Issuance (DCI) allows you to issue Corporate Cards to your employees by providing American Express with an electronic spreadsheet of employee information. This eliminates the need to distribute and collect applications from your employees, and will reduce the administrative time associated with the start-up of the Corporate Card program. |
This document contains the following information: |
Description of the DCI Submittal Process |
DCI List |
Field Specifications |
Sample DCI Affidavit Letter |
Sample DCI Announcement Letter |
Step 1. Enter data into the DCI List located in the DCI List Tab. |
It is absolutely critical that you adhere to the following standards while inputting information: |
Do not modify the format of the Excel template (i.e. do not delete any columns or worksheets from the template). |
Hyphens are the only form of punctuation that can be used. Do not use periods, commas, dollar signs, parentheses, ampersands or underscores. |
Enter information for all required fields. Required fields are higlighted in blue and denoted by an asterisks * symbol. |
If you have any questions regarding which fields are required, please contact your American Express Representative. |
Step 2: Quality Check DCI List |
1) Push the Validate Address button located in the DCI List Tab. A macro will be run which highlights in red only those address fields that exceed the 20 character limit. All rows that are under the limit will be hidden from the user. |
a) If no fields are highlighted in red, click the Unhide All Rows Button. |
b) If there are fields highlighted in red, please modify the length of the field to meet the required specifications. Please refer to the “Abbreviations” Tab of the Excel worksheet to help you abbreviate the field according to postal code guidelines. |
2) Push the Check For Missing Info button located in the DCI List Tab. A macro will be run which highlights the rows that are missing the following fields: Social Security Number, Business Phone, Home Phone. This button should be pressed after each error message until no error messages are received. |
Step 3: Write Affidavit Letter |
An affidavit letter is required with every DCI List. A sample Affidavit Letter is enclosed in the workbook. |
Step 4: Submit DCI List and Affidavit Letter for Processing |
There are a variety of ways a DCI List and Affidavit Letter can be submitted for processing. Please contact your American Express Representative for more information. |
Step 5: Inform Employees |
Inform employees that they have been submitted as applicants for a Corporate Card, and communicate appropriate travel policies. A sample announcement communication is enclosed in the workbook. |
Step 6: American Express sends Corporate Cards and Cardmember Agreements |
In approximately two weeks from the receipt of your DCI listing, American Express will send the Corporate Card, Cardmember Agreement, and Welcome Packet to all approved applicants. If the company has opted for central card distribution, all Corporate Cards will be bulk-mailed to the designated recipient. |
Both Cardmembers and Program Administrators will be notified of any spending restrictions that may be placed on Corporate Card accounts. |
* American Express reserves the right to approve only applicants who meet our credit criteria. Applicants denied a Corporate Card will receive a letter from American Express explaining the reasons for denial and may contact American Express directly using the telephone number provided on the denial letter for more information. In addition, American Express will advise the company that the applicant is denied without giving any further explanation to the company as to why the applicant was denied. Due to legal constraints, American Express is unable to provide specific information on declined applicants to anyone other than the applicants themselves. |
