Listening Listening is one of difficult materials for students because many students don’t understand what the speaker says. In the first meeting, students should listen and read the following dialogues and match the people to the places. After that, they should discuss the answer with a partner, they have the same answer or not. Then, each pair should write down three ideas about miss a phone call and compare them with another pair. Also there are listen vocabulary then repeat the words and listen to the sentences. Then, there are listen to the dialogue and answer question, listen to the dialogue and fill in the blank. 2. Speaking The activity in speaking is read the following sentences with a partner under the themes answering the phone, asking to speak to someone, asking who is calling, apologizing for absence, and asking for assistance. 3. Reading The activity in reading is read the article under the title “telephone etiquette” then circle any words that students don’t understand and answer the question formed in multiple choice based on the text. Its can helps students to know telephone etiquette so that they won’t do the mistakes when they speak with their client or partner. 4. Writing The activity in writing is write an e-mail to the colleague in Amsterdam with use the information from Trevor’s schedule and the phone message in box. It’s helps students to know how to write an e-mail. 5. Vocabulary Vocabulary in unit 1 is about arrangements and changes to arrangements such as delay, cancel, set up, postpone, etc. Students should read the words and mark any words that they don’t understand. Then with a partner, look at the list again and list which words are noun, which are verbs, and which are both. 6. Grammar The grammar material is “going to vs. Will” and the tasks are fill in the blank use be + going to or will / won’t and complete the list of activities and excuses use going to or will. 2.1.2 Unit 2 (Introducing Companies and Products: Consumer Problems) 1. Listening There are some activities in listening such as listen to and repeat the words, listen to the sentences, listen to the dialogue and answer the question, listen to the dialogue and fill in the blanks. 2. Speaking Students make a small group then make brainstorm solutions of a problem. Write down five possible solutions and present the solutions to the class. 3. Reading Read the text under the title “product launch” and the answer the multiple choice question. This text helps students to know how to do the product launch. 4. Writing Complete the troubleshooting guide in a box using the information provided and draw students own troubleshooting guide for a simple problem. It’s helps students to know how to solve the problems. 5. Vocabulary Vocabulary in unit 2 is about problems and errors such as out of ink, disconnected, no display, hard drive failure, etc. The activities are read the words about problems and errors and mark any words that students don’t understand. And these words are connected to things that could go wrong with the electronic equipment in an office. Discuss with a partner how they could solve these problems. 6. Grammar The grammar material is second conditional that contains if clause and main clause. 2.1.3 Unit 3 (Socializing with Confidence: Icebreaking, Do’s and Don’ts) 1. Listening There are some activities in listening such as listen to and repeat the words, listen to the sentences, listen to the dialogue and answer the question. 2. Speaking Speaking activities in this book are read the dialogue with a partner and choose the best responses to ensure a good conversation, practice the dialogue and finally, as a class, pretend they are at a social event. 3. Reading Reading text in unit 3 is about “culture clash”. This text helps the students to knowthetaboosinsomecountries before they do the business. 4. Writing Writing material in unit 3 is about “personal profile”. It helps students to know howtowritepersonal profile of their client or partner. 5. Vocabulary Vocabulary in unit 3 is about taboos such as touching people, under dresses, chewing gum, salary talk, etc. Activities in learning vocabulary here are read the words and mark any words that the students don’t understand. 6. Grammar The grammar material in unit 3 is tag questions. They can use tag questions to help them socialize with confidence. 2.1.4 Unit 4 (Job Interviews: Interview Skills) 1. Listening The theme of listening in unit 4 is “career advice seminar”. In this listening, expected can make students know situation in the seminar with listen to the dialogue from the tape and then answer the question. 2. Speaking Speaking here add the theme “job interview”. This exercise trains the students to do the interview to each other with practice the dialogue using all the tips of interview and vocabulary in this unit so the students are ready to get interview if they want to apply for job.
