                      Student FAQs for the ATI TEAS Exams 
      
     Q:   What is the ATI TEAS? 
     A:   The ATI TEAS, or Test of Essential Academic Skills, is designed specifically to assess a student's 
          preparedness entering the health science fields. The ATI TEAS test is comprised of 170 questions set up 
          in a multiple-choice format with four-option answers. Questions are designed to test the basic 
          academic skills you will need to perform in class in the areas of: Reading, Math, Science, and English 
          and Language Usage. 
      
     Q:   What is the difference between the TEAS - for Nursing and the TEAS - for Health Science? 
     A:   As of Summer 2021 the TEAS - for Health Science is required for consideration into the PTA Program at 
          Miami Dade College. The TEAS - for Nursing remains in place as the same requirement for 
          consideration into the RN program at Miami Dade College. 
      
     Q:   Do I need to take the ATI TEAS? 
     A:   Yes. If you are applying for admission into the Associate of Science in Nursing OR Physical Therapist 
          Assistant programs, you are required to take the ATI TEAS - for Nursing or TEAS - for Health Science 
          respectively. 
      
     Q:   How do I register for the ATI TEAS? 
     A:   To request an appointment for the ATI - TEAS for Nursing follow this link:

     Q:   Is there a fee? 
     A:   Yes. There is a non-refundable/non-transferable fee of $55.00 per test attempt. 
      
     Q:   Is there a way to get a refund or transfer my test fee if I miss the test date and time that I registered 
          for? 
     A:   No. If you are unable to attend your prearranged test date, there is no possibility of a refund or 
          transfer to another test date. Please make every effort to keep your scheduled test date. 
      
     Q:   How long is the test? 
     A:   The ATI TEAS is a timed, Three hour and 29 min test. 
      
     Q:   Can the ATI TEAS be taken in sections instead of taking the entire test? 
     A:   No. The ATI TEAS is only given as a complete battery.

     Q:   How often can I take the ATI TEAS?                
     A:   The ATI TEAS scores are valid for 2 years. 
      
     Q:   What is the minimum ATI TEAS score required for the RN program at Miami Dade College 
     A:   The minimum requirement is a composite score of 60%. 
      
     Q:   Can I use a calculator on the ATI TEAS? 
     A:   There is an on-screen calculator built into the test. No handheld calculators are permitted. 
      
     Q:   Can I take the ATI TEAS at another institution or use scores from an attempt taken at another 
          institution? 
     A:   No. The ATI TEAS must be taken at a Miami Dade College - Testing and Assessment Department. Test 
          Scores from other institutions cannot be used for consideration into the RN or PTA programs at Miami 
          Dade College. 
      
     Q:   Who is eligible to sit for the ATI TEAS at Miami Dade College? 
     A:   Miami Dade College - Testing and Assessment Departments are open to any candidate that needs to 
          take the TEAS (However different fees apply for non MDC candidiates). If you are an MDC student your 
          MDID is required to confirm your appointment and register for the test. 
      
     Q:   Do I need to set up an ATI account prior to my test date? 
     A:   ATI accounts can be created at the Test Site immediately before beginning the exam. If you wish to set 
          up your account prior to your test date you may do so by going to www.atitesting.com, clicking Create 
          Account and entering the required information with careful attention not to select ATI as the Testing 
          Institution.  
      
     Q:   When will I receive my results? 
     A:   You will be able to view your results immediately after the exam. Score reports will not be printed for 
          MDC students; as they will be inputted into the MDC student accounts.  
          If you are Testing for another Institution (non-MDC) two score reports will be offered, one as a printed 
          copy and one as stamped and sealed copy. Be advised Other Institution candidates will be subject to a 
          separate fee of $45. 
           
     Q:   I have a documented disability and need to request accommodations. What is the process and time 
          frame for this request? 
     A:   Students wishing to have testing accommodations for the ATI TEAS must contact the ACCESS 
          department-www.mdc.edu/access/-at their respective campus prior to registering for a test date. Any 
          requested accommodations must be approved 48 hours before test date. 
      
     Q:   Is there a recommended study guide for the ATI TEAS? 
     A:   Yes. It is available at Miami Dade College Bookstores and online at www.atitesting.com/teas-prep.
