                            General Advice
Should I change my previous study habits (from undergrad,MCAT studying, etc) when
studying in Foundations? If so, how?
Ɣ Most AOA members recommend adding outside resources see next question¡ to
            supplement lecture content.
Ɣ Less passive studying  ex: reading¡ and more activestudying  ex: flashcards¡.
Ɣ Work on efficiency and consistency in studying; crammingis not feasible in medical school.
What resources were most helpful during each blockof Foundations?
Ɣ Overall most recommended resource: Anki
          Ɣ MCBD: Firecracker
          Ɣ I&D: Sketchy Micro
Ɣ CPR: Kahn Academy, Online MedEd
          Ɣ Blood and Cancer: Pathoma
Ɣ Anatomy Pin Tests: Acland’s Anatomy Atlas, TeachMeAnatomy
          Ɣ Otheršall blocks:
              ○ Sketchy Pharm
              ○ Boards and Beyond
              ○ UWorld
              ○ Firecracker
              ○ First Aid
              ○ USMLE Rx
Should I be studying for Step ¼ throughout Foundations?(Note: This question was asked
before Step ¼ was made Pass/Fail.)
Ɣ The short answer:it is up to you! Do what works foryou.
Ɣ AOA members had highly variable responses. The goalfor Step ¼ studying is to minimize
stress. If you think that studying for all of Foundations will help you do that, then that
method will work best for you. If you think that taking things one step at a time and waiting
to study until your dedicated prep time works best, then do that! There are many successful
techniques and you just need to find what works best for you. Here is a breakdown of how
the most recent AOA members chose to prep for Step¼:
                  ■ ½»Î of AOA members studied for Step ¼ consistentlythroughout
                    Foundations
                  ■ ¿»Î studied a light amount, intermittently throughoutFoundations
                  ■ ¼ÀÎ began the summer between MS¼-MS½ year
                  ■ ½ÀÎ of AOA members waited to study for Step ¼ untiltheir dedicated prep
                    time after Foundations
If I do study for Step ¼ throughout Foundations, whatresources are the most useful?
Ɣ First Aid: Best if you use this as a study companion to each block.
Ɣ Uworld: Study relevant questions for the block.
Ɣ Sketchy Micro and Sketchy Pharm: Best to use theseas study companions for the
appropriate blocks so that the videos are familiar once your dedicated study prep time
            comes around.
