Polytechnic, Nawada PREFACE This Laboratory manual is designed to cover the applied physics experiments st prescribed for I semester diploma students by SBTE, Bihar. Each article contains list of equipment, theory, procedure, observation table and method of final calculation, precaution etc. The present manual contains eight experiments (Complied by Prof. Ravi Kumar) and kept open ended for incorporating additional experiments in future. No. Name of experiment Page No. 1 To calculate the volume of the given solid cylinder 5-8 using vernier calliper. 2 To determine the cross sectional area of thin wire using 9-11 micrometer screw gauge. 3 To study the relation between frequency and length of a 12-14 stretch string using a Sonometer. 4 To determine the value of ‘g’ (accelerator due to 15-18 gravity) by using a simple Pendulum. 5 To find the angle of minimum deviation of a given glass 19-22 prism. 6 To determine the given carbon resistance using a 23-26 Multimeter and to compare it with measured value with the written in Colour Code. 7 To Verify Ohm’s Law by using an Ammeter & 27-29 Voltmeter. 8 To determine the thermal conductivity of a bad 30-33 conductor by Lee’s method. 4
