DISTRICT INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION & TRAINING (DIET), JAISALMER There was a proposal for the establishment of DIETs for the universalisation of primary education under the preview of NEP 1986. For the implementation of it, there were five phases for DIETs. DIET Jaisalmer was established in the third phase. DIET Jaisalmer was started from fort in Jaisalmer city in 1988-89. Later on the building of DIET Jaisalmer was completed and shifted in it and it functions continuously since 1991.DIET Jaisalmer campus is situated in the west direction of the Jaisalmer city, near SP office ,sam road. To train instructors and supervisors of non formal education and continuous education. 3. To train and refresh heads of institutions in the field of institutional and micro planning Management. 4. To conduct Elementary Education Completion Certificate Examination successfully in the District. 5. To give orientations to social NGOs and other workers who affects education at Primary level. 6. To conduct programmes of Action Researches and Experimental works in the district. 7. To play roles for evaluation centre for formal and continuous of primary and upper primary education . 8. To provide resources for learning and teaching for teachers and instructors. 9. To provide suggestions and counseling to district resource units. 10. To provide stage for publications for educational researches, innovations and developmental attitudes. 11. To develop TLMs , curriculum and materials of curriculum and evaluation. The DIET have been set to meet the above objectivesas follows: PRE-SERVICE TRAINING: to prepare teachers for the school system. IN-SERVICE TRAINING:to improve capacity of existing school teachers. The provisions for teaching staff for the two structures (pre-service and in-service teachers)has been assigned as per norms by the ‘Ministry of Human Resource Development’,(MHRD) The Government of India and the ‘National Council for Teacher Education’ (NCTE). In accordance, the provisions for teaching staff are prescribed which includes principal, vice-principal, senior lecturers and lecturers as well as the non-teaching staff in the DIET’s at present functioning in the state. PRE-SERVICE TRAINING: As per the norms extended by ‘The National Council for Teacher Education, New Delhi and in accordance to curriculum prescribed for DLD, the primary education ( grades 1 to 8 ) is used to conduct pre-service course in DIETs.The separate provisions for staff are made to teach this course. In accordance, the provisions are approved for teaching staff which includes principal, vice-principal, senior lecturers and lecturers as well as the non-teaching staff in the DIET’s at present functioning in the state. PROVISION FOR PRE-SERVICE TEACHER TRAINING STAFF The faculty members for two basic units having recruitment of 50-50 students. The principal, Vice Principal, Senior lecturers and lecturers are included in faculty members. PRE-SERVICE TEACHER TRAINING – The D.L.ED ‘two-years course’ has been implemented functional in the new format within the state from 2014-15.In which curriculum principle courses, lab related works, school substitute trainings (internships) and program implementations, survey and research works as per curriculum} are completed by the faculty members. As per the new curriculum, in first year and second year, teaching of the following papers and assessments are carried out by the faculty members.
